Child Safety Standards
Last updated: June 16, 2026
Need is operated by Flowtasks. We have a zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out our published standards for keeping children safe on Need, in line with Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and applicable law.
Our commitment
- We prohibit any content, conduct, or contact that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers children.
- We act on reports of CSAE, remove violating content, and ban offending accounts.
- We report apparent CSAM and child exploitation to the relevant authorities and cooperate with law enforcement.
Who can use Need
Need connects people for real-world help and is intended for adults. Users must be at least 18 years old. Need is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow minors to create accounts. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we remove it.
Prohibited conduct and content
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including drawn, animated, or computer-generated depictions.
- Grooming, solicitation, or sexual communication with or about a minor.
- Sextortion, trafficking, or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a minor.
- Sharing, requesting, or linking to CSAE material, or directing users off-platform for such purposes.
How we prevent and respond to CSAE
- In-app reporting: every user can report a user, a posted need, or a message from within the app.
- Blocking: users can block others to stop all further contact.
- Moderation: our team reviews reports and takes action, including content removal and permanent account bans.
- No public nudity: the public sharing of nudity or sexual content is not permitted.
- Enforcement: accounts involved in CSAE are removed and may be referred to authorities.
Reporting to authorities
Need complies with all relevant child safety laws. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to regional and national authorities as required, and we preserve information to support their investigations.
